This may be more of a manifesto…
I have always been interested in getting people together to experience the same story. I grew up on sets and backstage with two wonderful actor parents. As a child, I directed Venice-Beach-style remakes of all fairytales with the neighborhood kids, ran lines with my folks after homework, and got cut out of my first film at the age of five.
I love performing. It feels like strings are attached to everyone's heart in the room, leading back to mine. I gently or sharply tug as the moment calls. I also love image-making. I can paint and draw, and my first job was color correction at a photo lab.
I feel best and most completely utilized as a director, maybe because it combines my two loves- with my third- creating a team. Setting the table for the best collaborators to come together and make something impactful delights me. Honing a story until it is crystal clear. I am adding elements to surprise and delight. Creating moments that give you a name for that weird feeling you did not have a name for.
I have a degree in art history. Not filmmaking. I wanted to understand the history of how images have come to impact humans. I tried to understand the clothes before making a party dress. After school, I spent a few years working on different shows for FOX, ABC, and TNT as a producer's assistant, which taught me EVERYTHING about making that party dress.
I fell in love and moved to San Francisco, where I started directing my work, which grew into The Clock Factory. Along the way, I have directed several award-winning short films, music videos, and plays.
I live in Los Angeles and work from my Topanga Canyon studio. I am currently working on my first feature film, Floating, which will be shot in Montana in April 2025.
