About Amelia Mulkey

I have always been in show business…

As the child of two actors, I did my homework in dressing rooms, directed plays with other kids on the block, and was cut out of my first film before I could read. After earning my degree in art history, I spent a few years on stage and TV as an actress but quickly transitioned into being behind the camera. As a producing director’s assistant, I cut my teeth on hour-long dramas for FOX, ABC, and TNT. After that, I moved to San Francisco, where I started directing my films and commercials. These efforts were well received, and eventually grew into a production company, The Clock Factory.

The SF nightclub scene helped me find my performing niche—doing character comedy in cabarets and burlesque shows, which forever informs all my work.

As a theater director, I have directed in SF and LA some critically acclaimed productions, most notably I produced and developed the stage adaptation of Sideways and Arthur Millar’s Memory of Two Mondays, for which I received an Ovation best director award.

I live in Topanga, California, raising my two children, directing plays, and working on Floating, my feature film debuted, set to shoot in Montana in 2025.
